We've skipped Tidy 2 and moved directly to Tidy 3.
Where did Tidy 2 go?
Tidy 2 entered public beta in September 2015 and was supposed to go public late October 2015. Since then the release date has been postponed a month at the time and Tidy 2 is still not public. And never will be.
A big part of what we're trying to do is combining the ease of use of a sitebuilder (like WIX and Squarespace) with the versatility of WordPress and that proved really hard to do. We've tried to make it work since October, but failed to produce a version we're happy with. The hardest part is to allow the user to edit everything without making her confused.
In April we decided to start from scratch an see where that would take us and now we've decided that we're going to change so much that we might as well call the new version Tidy 3.
Behold the new Tidy!
We're still true to the original idea of combining the best features from Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow and Bootstrap and our main focus is speed. Tidy aims to be really fast in every sense:
- creating new sites
- customising sites
- updating sites
- using (loading) sites
Building Tidy(3) (we're just going to call it Tidy from now on) we're not just focusing on the UI, but also refactoring the code base to be able to provide a more fluid UX.
We're hoping to release the public beta in August 2016 and this time we mean it. We too are getting tired of pushing the date forward but guarantee it's worth the wait.
